"Welcome to the Monster Club" is the fifth episode of Gen V, a spinoff series of The Boys. It premiered on October 13, 2023 on Amazon Prime Video. It is the fifth episode overall.
Summary[]
REWARD! Last night, The Incredible Steve attended an off-campus party where his penis was lost. He just wants it back, so his family is offering a $10,000 REWARD for its safe return, no questions asked. Plot[]
Andre and Cate are asleep on a couch when a slimy substance drops onto his face. They go upstairs to investigate and discover they are in Dusty’s house. They then enter a room and find Jordan and Marie sleeping together.
The scene changes to Marie discovering Emma, who has grown to a large size, lying naked in a pool. The group reunites and discusses their shared lack of recent memories. Emma finds video clips from the previous night, which show Marie and Jordan kissing and reveal that a video of a giant, naked Emma is trending online. Sam suddenly appears, happy to see them awake. They retreat, stating they do not know him, and Sam explains their memories were wiped. He promises to help them and warns that the school is dangerous.
Cate and the others discuss their memory loss and realize it has affected everyone. Marie informs them of Sam’s claims about recent events. The group begins to understand the situation, and Cate suggests that Rufus is likely responsible.
The scene shifts to Dr. Cardosa attempting to resign due to recent events. Indira Shetty informs him that resignation is not an option and persuades him to stay. He demands that Marie be captured so he can use her to develop a virus for controlling superhumans, but Indira refuses.
Later, Marie tells the others about her encounter with Rufus, and Cate describes a similar experience. They notice their conversation has angered Andre, who leaves to confront Rufus.
Emma walks down a hallway and is recognized by other students who celebrate her newfound fame. Jordan walks with Marie and says their previous encounter does not need to be awkward. They then see Rufus speaking with Indira and decide to confront him. Marie holds Jordan back until Indira leaves, explaining that she does not trust her.
Rufus spots them and a chase ensues. They eventually catch him, only to discover it is Benny, who has been paid to shapeshift into Rufus. Meanwhile, Rufus returns to his room to find Andre already there. Andre uses his powers to lock the apartment and tries to get information, but he suddenly finds himself standing in line at a fast-food restaurant.
That night, Marie returns to her room and learns that Emma is climbing the school's social ranks. Marie tells Emma about her conversation with Jordan. Emma finds a sweatshirt from the Stardust Drive-in Theater, which reminds her of what Sam said.
The scene cuts to Sam experiencing a hallucination. He sees a puppet version of Emma and hears a helicopter. Sam himself turns into a puppet, and armed puppet guards descend. He brutally kills all of them just before the hallucination ends, and then he runs away.
Emma becomes convinced that Sam was telling the truth and decides to find him. Marie discovers a blood clot near her collarbone and uses her powers to remove a tracking device. She goes to tell Cate, claiming this is bigger than Rufus and that Indira may be involved. Cate takes Marie’s hand, apologizes, and erases her memory again.
Jordan tells Maverick about having feelings for Marie, and Maverick advises Jordan to speak with Cate. Jordan then approaches Marie to talk but notices an injury on Marie’s collarbone; Marie has no memory of how it happened. Jordan brings up their previous conversation, but Marie remembers nothing. Believing Rufus wiped her memory again, Jordan walks away. Marie then notices something on Jordan’s collarbone as well.
The scene switches to Cate venting to Indira about the others suspecting something is wrong despite the memory erasure. Indira reminds Cate that she must play along for everyone’s safety.
Emma arrives at the drive-in theater, and Sam spots her. He cautiously approaches to confirm she is alone. Emma says she still does not remember him but believes his story. She apologizes for her memory loss, and Sam tells her that Cate also made Luke forget him.
Cate goes to Andre’s room and asks to spend time together. As they watch television, Andre says he thinks they should leave the school. He then receives a text from Jordan stating that Rufus has been found.
Jordan and Marie storm into Rufus’s room and attack him as he tries to flee. Rufus pleads that he is innocent and has been in the room for hours, making it impossible for him to have wiped Marie’s memory. Marie then receives a call from Emma, who tells her Rufus is not responsible. Marie tells Jordan to stand down, but Andre arrives and slams Rufus through a wall. He pins Rufus with metal debris and nearly beheads him with a shovel before Cate stops him. She confesses that she is the one who erased their memories and then restores Andre’s.
Heartbroken by this betrayal, Andre walks away.
