The Woods is a location that appears in Season One of the Amazon series Gen V, a spin-off series of The Boys. It was a secret underground medical facility located beneath Godolkin University where Dr. Cardosa conducted illegal experiments on Supes. The facility was nicknamed after the pictures of forests plastered on the cell room walls.

Gen V Series[]

"Welcome to the Monster Club"[]

Dr. Cardosa meets with Dean Shetty to discuss Sam Riordan's recent breakout from the Woods, where Cardosa refuses to 'babysit' Sam any longer. He also brought up his development of a virus that could be used to control Supes, and requests Marie Moreau to use as a test subject, due to her rare blood manipulation powers. Shetty denies his request, citing that Marie is untouchable for the moment due to her benefactor.

Sam, having escaped the Woods, rests in a storm drain while imagining a conversation with Emma Meyer. A security team of at least 8 guards from the Woods suddenly arrive via helicopter, surrounding Sam in the storm drain. However, the guards are no match for the monumentally strong Sam, who slaughters them all in brutal fashion, including one who begs for the sake of his daughters, but is torn in half.

Known Experiments[]

The Riordan Brothers[]

One of the few known experiments involved Luke and Sam Riordan. The experiment aimed to make Luke as strong as his younger brother and get Luke approved to join The Seven. Luke would receive several (blood) transfusions from Sam, which while it did increase his strength, also increased the former's mental instability. Often times, his girlfriend Cate would be tasked to make Luke forget about Sam and the experiments. Superficially, the experiment was a success. Luke's enhanced power allowed him to achieve rank 1 at Godolkin and he was preapproved to join The Seven. However, Luke was also secretly remembering the experiments and became increasingly unstable as a result of the multiple transfusions and mindwipes. As the experiment was nearing its end, Luke finally snapped and murdered Richard Brinkerhoff before attacking nearby witnesses. Luke would leave his friends with clues about The Woods existence before he committed suicide.

The Virus[]

Due to increasing Supe defiance, Vought authorized the development of a bioweapon that can be used against them. Dr. Cardosa was eventually successful and created a virus that could only infect Supes. The virus would attach to the Compound V in a Supe's blood and weaken their powers. With their assignment complete, Cardosa stated they should inform Vought. However, Shetty demanded better results and ordered Cardosa to further develop the severity of the virus. Cardosa made it lethal and transmittable through bodily fluids, but he refused to make it airborne. Cardosa suspected Shetty had an ulterior motive for the virus and didn't want her to further twist his work, so Cardosa secretly met with Victoria Neuman in an effort to speak out against Vought. In exchange for witness protection for his family, Cardosa handed over all samples of the virus to Neuman. However, Neuman betrayed Cardosa, killing him, and taking the virus with her.

As part of their Supe uprising at Godolkin U, Cate and Sam would infiltrate The Woods, kill all remaining guards and release all the prisoners. With the death all major faculty and the release of all prisoners, The Woods are effectively abandoned.
