The Boys #3 is the third issue of The Boys and the third part of Volume One: The Name of the Game. It was originally published on October 4, 2006.
Plot[]
At the Seven's flying base, recent Seven recruit Starlight meets Homelander for the first time. Naturally, she is star stuck. Homelander humbly introduces himself as John, while Starlight identifies herself as Annie January. She is excited to have been accepted into the world's premiere superhero team, but Homelander assures her she performed remarkably well, as she wouldn't have been accepted otherwise. Starlight is also amazed at the Seven's base, as she didn't have access to anything of the sort when she was with the Young Americans, her first superhero team. Homelander asks if she will miss her team, and if she has anyone "special" on it. Starlight is certain that she will, and confirms she is dating Drummer Boy, another superhero on the team that she met at Capes for Christ. Homelander takes Starlight to the Seven's meeting room and invites her to take a seat. Starlight expresses excitement for her new position, even if it is temporary, but Homelander reassures her, as he doesn't believe Lamplighter will be returning. Before she is accepted, however, Homelander tells Starlight she must complete one more test. When Annie asks what it is, Homelander pulls his pants down and demands that Starlight "suck it," much to her horror.
At the South Bronx, Butcher arrives to pick up Hughie, and criticizes his choice of accommodation, a rundown motel Hughie simply picked because it was cheap. During the ride, Butcher asks Hughie how his flight was. Hughie replies that it was fine, but it was difficult to pass through immigration. Butcher apologizes and informs Hughie he has been made a US citizen a week ago, handing him an American passport.
At the Seven's HQ, Starlight is shocked by Homelander's behavior. Just as A-Train and Black Noir arrive, she pleads to them for help, as she believes Homelander is being controlled. To her shock, A-Train and Black Noir also pull their pants down, demanding to be orally pleased as well. Starlight is horrified at the prospect of being sexually assaulted, but Homelander asserts they aren't forcing her to do anything but adds that she must sexually gratify them if she wants to join the Seven.
At the Flatiron Building, Butcher introduces Wee Hughie to Mother's Milk, the Frenchman, and the Female. Butcher then tries to explain their mission, M.M. refuses to work in an office so dirty, while Frenchie and the Female wish to order a pizza, much to Billy's annoyance. M.M. expresses sympathy to Hughie over his girlfriend's death.
After being coerced into preforming oral sex on Homelander, Black Noir, and A-Train, Starlight pukes in the bathroom. Exiting the stall, she is happy to meet Queen Maeve, the only other female member. To her disappointment, however, she is coldly dismissed and ignored. Starlight returns to the stall to puke once more.
The Boys, meanwhile, are introduced to their targets: a superhero group known as Teenage Kix. The group, along with the Young Americans, stands as the premiere young adult superhero group, but is generally considered the polar opposite of the Young Americans, being edgy and "Gen-X", while the Young Americans are more conservative and religious in nature. The group is disliked even among Supe circles, which makes them an ideal target for the Boys to show they are back in business. Butcher also reveals that A-Train used to be a member of the group.
