The Boys #10 is the tenth issue of The Boys and the fourth part of Volume Two: Get Some. It was originally published on September 06, 2007.
Plot[]
After interrogating Tek Knight, Billy and Hughie leave the hero to his misery and take their leave. Billy fails to see how Tek Knight's confession connects to the story, but Hughie doesn't believe it matters. He observes how people love to brand others as gay, and asserts that they've been doing the same thing with SwingWing, without stopping to consider if that has anything to do with his motive. Butcher asks if Hughie thinks SwingWing killed Stephen after all, to which the latter replies that it's finally time they "met the cunt."
The pair go to the address provided to them by Tek Knight and confront SwingWing at his hotel. SwingWing play dumb at first, but after Hughie threatens him, he attacks the pair and flees to the roof. Hughie goes after him, while Butcher takes the fire escape to cut SwingWing off. On the rooftop, Hughie finds SwingWing dressed in his suit, ready to take flight. He is forced to fight SwingWing alone, as Butcher claims the ladder is out and he can't help (although this is untrue). Hughie is reluctant to hit SwingWing, as the latter isn't really a Supe so Hughie might kill him. After some encouragement from Butcher, however, Hughie finally knocks SwingWing out with one punch. After coming too, SwingWing confesses that Stephen waited for him at the roof of the motel he was staying in and surprised him when SwingWing took off his helmet. SwingWing wasn't alarmed by this, as others have figured out his identity before. Stephen then recounted his story, which SwingWing found boring, as he'd heard it many times before from other gay individuals. In particular, Stephen had feelings for a guy, but was afraid of rejection. SwingWing encouraged him to go for it, so Stephen confessed his feelings for none other than SwingWing. The hero was horrified by this, however, and ended up throwing Stephen off the roof, although he claims this was an accident. Hughie wonders why SwingWing freaked out so much, given how much time he spends around gay people, but the latter replies that this is only an image Vought-American crafted for him, and he himself actually hates homosexuals. With his armor and mask on, he feels insulated from them, but he didn't wear his suit with Stephen. With that, Butcher orders SwingWing to get up and explains that he will be working for the Boys from now on, feeding them intel on other Supes. Secretly, however, he unscrews a bolt from SwingWing's jetpack.
Afterwards, Hughie and Butcher have breakfast at a nearby diner. Butcher asks if Hughie is upset they let SwinWing off so easy, but Hughie denies this, lamenting instead how there is no real justice for Stephen, despite the fact that they solved the case, and only took it in the first place because the Legend wanted to know who killed his sister's grandson. Butcher, however, reveals that the Legend doesn't have a sister, and doesn't know the real reason the man wanted them on the case. He goes on to commend Hughie for his preformance.
A week later, Hughie meets with Paul and explains what really happened to Stephen. Paul remembers that SwingWing died a week earlier fighting a villain, but Hughie reveals that his jetpack malfunctioned and he was run over by the Staten Island ferry. Paul is disappointed there is no justice, but thanks Hughie nonetheless. Hughie notices Max hanging around, which annoys Paul. Hughie advises a more gentle approach with Max, as no one could have possibly known what SwingWing was really like. After he heads back to the office, he watches out the window as the two reconcile.
Elswhere, Tek Knight is walking down the street, lamenting at his tarnished reputation. Suddenly, he sees a mother and her child about to be crushed by falling debris, so he saves them. The whole world is caught in a meteor shower, however, with a really big asteroid on its way. Curiously, the asteroid appears to have a small incision, roughly an inch in diameter and organic in nature. Tek Knight declares that "if it has a hole, I can fuck it," before taking off to stop the asteroid. Tek Knight proceeds to have sex with the asteroid until it explodes, thus saving the world. In reality, however, Tek Knight was killed by the falling debris. Upon autopsy, the coroner found a large tumor in his brain, explaining his bizarre behavior. As Hughie is reading this story, Butcher instructs him to brush up on his Russian, as they are going to Moscow tomorrow.
