H-Hey, everybody. Um, so, our next speaker is not only a true visionary, she's also my close friend. So please join me in welcoming author, filmmaker, political activist, commentator and a leading voice of the alt-Supe movement on Youtube, Firecracker!
―Splinter introducing Firecracker at TruthCon.[src]

Splinter is a minor antagonist in Season Four of the Amazon series The Boys. He was Firecracker's associate who was infatuated with her.

Background[]

Shortly after Splinter's birth, his parents accepted Vought's offer to inject him with Compound V, subsequently transforming him into a Supe and granting him superhuman powers and abilities.

Later in his life, Splinter met Firecracker and the two began a friendship. However, Splinter sees her as a love interest, shown by an ecstatic attitude when close by her, which Firecracker chooses to ignore and was friend-zoned by her as she's not interested in him.

Outside of Firecracker, Splinter entourages himself of his replicates, who dub him as "Prime", and are mostly seen with a white shirt.

Because of his sexual practices on himself, Splinter can be seen infected with conjuctivitis, which he disguises as "an allergy".

The Boys: Season 4[]

"Life Among the Septics"[]

Splinter appears as Firecracker's spokesperson during the far-right Homelander support convention TruthCon, where he also arranges the scenes with his replicates. When he is seen sneakily leaving, Frenchie and Kimiko follow him on M.M's orders. Though the plan is successful, Frenchie and Kimiko discover to their shock Splinter inside a sauna, masturbating to a photo of Firecracker with the replicates doing anilingus similar to a human centipede.

Later on, Splinter, his replicates and Firecracker corner The Boys into a trap led by Sister Sage. As they hold The Boys at gunpoint, Frenchie distracts the replicants when he comments on their pink eye, resulting in a massive fight. As replicates are killed, Splinter uses his powers to overpower The Boys, but Billy intervenes and kills most of the replicates with his signature crowbar. Splinter Prime chokes Butcher while the replicates add weight. The Boys help Billy, allowing the latter to fatally stab Prime through the brain with the crowbar. The replicates watch in horror and confess to Firecracker their love towards her before simultaneously dying.

Powers and Abilities[]

Powers[]

  • Self-Replication: Splinter possesses discomforting self-replication abilities, which allows him to replicate himself by splitting into numerous individual beings. With his clones, Splinter can subdue, overwhelm, and kill humans. Additionally, no matter how many times he clones himself, Splinter Prime is identifiable by the Firecracker logo tattooed on his left arm.
  • Superhuman Hearing: Splinter possesses superhuman hearing, allowing him to hear better than humans. Like all Supes, he can hear higher frequencies that humans cannot.[1]

Weaknesses[]

  • Lack of Secondary Abilities: Unlike most Supes, Splinter lacks secondary abilities, such as superhuman strength, durability, or regenerative healing. Therefore, he can be killed by ordinary means, just like humans. Billy Butcher impales Splinter Prime in the head with a crowbar, killing him instantly.
  • Prime Clone Dependency: None of Splinter's clones share the same self-duplication power as Prime Splinter. Additionally, each of the clones' lives are linked to the survival of Splinter Prime. Should the original be killed, all replicas will die alongside him.[2]
  • Sexually Transmitted Disease: Due to engaging in sexual practices with his clones, Splinter is infected with conjunctivitis, which he disguises as "an allergy."
  • High Frequencies: Due to being a Supe, Splinter is susceptible to high frequencies. When a high frequency is playing, it can induce immense pain and temporarily neutralize him.

Trivia[]

  • Splinter is likely a parody of Marvel's Multiple Man.
  • While Firecracker serves as a dark foil to Starlight, the same could be said for Splinter and Hughie. Both were infatuated with their respected Supe friend, possessed powers that allowed them to be in multiple places at once (teleportation for Hughie, cloning for Splinter) and were seen as unremarkable and average by many. The only difference was that Splinter’s love for Firecracker was unreciprocated.
