Where's Uncle Paul?
―Grace Wilhelm's last words before killing herself.

Grace Wilhelm, also known as Silver Kincaid, is a minor character in the Dynamite Entertainment adult comic book series The Boys. She was a white-haired Supe with pressure manipulation powers and an inaugural member of the G-Men, a Vought-owned team marketed to the public as a group of so-called "outcasts" and "orphans" run by the pedophilic cult leader John Godolkin.

Background[]

Early Childhood and Abduction[]

Grace Wilhelm, hailing from Cranbook, North Massachusetts, initially enjoyed an ordinary childhood with her family. At the age of eight, Grace was riding a horse when it became panicked and stampeded five miles before being caught by her father. The trauma of the event turned her hair white, but otherwise did not affect her.

A few years later, Grace's uncle, Paul Wilhelm, took her into town for some ice cream at a place named Desano's. After purchasing the ice-cream, Paul realized that he had forgotten his change and headed back into the shop, leaving Grace alone outside. Although he was only inside for thirty seconds or so, Grace quickly was abducted by John Godolkin. The incident greatly strained Paul's relationship with his brother and completely devastated the rest of the family. Two years later, Paul committed suicide by shooting himself while in Arizona.

Abuse, Brainwashing, and Training as a "superhero"[]

Under Godolkin's sinister influence, Grace's former life and identity were erased, replaced by a new persona: Silver Kincaid. She was subjected to Compound V, a substance that endowed her with superhuman abilities. Worse yet, her mind was mercilessly manipulated, instilling unwavering loyalty to Godolkin, despite his heinous actions and his abuse of her.

As she matured, Grace was thrust into a group comprising of Gondolkin's other kidnapped children: Five-Oh, Cold Snap, Critter, Groundhawk, and Nubia, forming the inaugural roster of the G-Men. Through sexual abuse, bribery, and brainwashing, these unwilling recruits were transformed into faux-superheroes; with their fates entirely under the thumb of Gondolkin's control while their lives were cruelly exploited as entertainment for the masses. Their popularity soared, rivaling even Vought-American's sponsored teams, making them Godolkin's prized assets. However, Silver Kincaid faced another demand from Godolkin. She was not just another member of the G-Men; she was his personal assassin, forced to carry out his bidding against her will.

Silver Kincaid was an undisputed powerhouse within the ranks of the G-Men, wielding her control over gravity and pressure to execute her victims with precise efficiency. Whenever a Supe, be it from the G-Men, other spin-off teams or elsewhere dared to defy Gondolkin's orders or expose their secrets, it was her grim duty to eliminate them. Practically all of her fellow G-Men harbored a collective animosity towards her, except for a lone exception—Nubia. However, the pivotal moment that shattered the chains of her mind's conditioning came when Godolkin ordered her to take Nubia's life, only to later resurrect her as a mindless puppet, more easily controlled. In that horrifying act, something within Silver Kincaid's psyche snapped, granting her newfound clarity.

Contacting the CIA and Suicide[]

After partially deprogramming herself from Godolkin's brainwashing, Silver Kincaid made a journey to the CIA to bring her kidnapper to justice. Capitalizing on this opportunity, CIA director Susan Raynor recruited her as a spy, driven by the hope of extracting intelligence about Godolkin, the workings of the G-Men, the other spinoff teams, and, above all, their complex relationship with Vought-American, a coveted target for investigation.

However, Rayner underestimated the psychological toll Silver Kincaid was already enduring from betraying the man her very essence compelled her to remain loyal to. While her decision to approach the CIA had been agonizing, stepping into the role of a spy proved insurmountable, pushing her already fractured psyche to its breaking point. In a attempt to ignite motivation within her, Rayner unveiled the fate that had befallen Silver's family. She learned that her mother, Anna, had succumbed to cancer, consumed by grief over the loss of her daughter. Her uncle Paul had taken his own life, burdened by an overwhelming sense of guilt.

This revelation had the opposite effect and left her broken and emotionally numb. Returning to Cranbrook sometime in 2007, Silver Kincaid retraced the path to the exact spot where she had been abducted, and triggered her powers upon herself. With her pain finally extinguished, she found solace in death.

Powers[]

  • Pressure Manipulation: Silver Kincaid's powers seem psychic and related to pressure. She could use her powers to lethal effect, and has used her powers in superheroes as well as, eventually, on herself as a way to commit suicide, blood streaming from her eyes, ears, and mouth. Her powers were also strong enough to kill supes, as shown in a flashback when she killed Nubia.

Weaknesses[]

  • Mental Health: After being kidnapped by Godolkin and being presumably sexually assaulted by him for years (as he does this to his new "recruits" when they are children), it had caused her to have a mental breakdown and ended with her killing herself.
