Rufus was born in the early 2000s, and shortly after his birth, his parents accepted Vought's offer to inject him with Compound V, subsequently transforming him into a Supe and granting him superhuman powers and abilities.

The Boys Series[]

Gen V: Season 1[]

"God U."[]

Rufus appears in the orientation video for Godolkin University alongside several Supes, where he claims to be super focused.

In the courtyard, Rufus debates Jeremy in front of a crowd of Hometeamers and Starlighters.

"First Day"[]

At Richard Brinkerhoff's memorial, Rufus and his friends joke and laugh about Golden Boy's death. Cate approaches him and asks if he was laughing about Golden Boy. Rufus denies, but Cate uses her powers on him, forcing him to reveal the truth. Cate then instructs Rufus to buy a baseball bat and hit himself in the dick every hour while shouting Jumanji, which he casually agrees to before walking away.

Later, Rufus is seen hitting himself in the dick with a baseball bat while shouting Jumanji.

"The Whole Truth"[]

Outside Godolkin University, Rufus watches an episode of The Whole Truth With Tek Knight on Shehemoth. He is interrupted by Marie, who asks if he is a psychic. Rufus humorously answers Marie's question and demonstrates his abilities by revealing her true reason for meeting him before she could do so herself. Marie informs Rufus that she can't pay him, but she can give him free stuff. Rufus responds by telling her there are other ways to pay him, prompting Marie to walk away in disgust. Rufus claims that he's joking and requests an item belonging to Emma in order to find her. Marie gives Rufus a miniature dress that belongs to Emma, which helps him find her and realize that she is with someone else. However, Rufus tells Marie that he needs a deeper connection and that she should get closer to him, which she then does.

Suddenly, Rufus stands naked in front of a lulled Marie inside his dorm, attempting to date-rape her. Jordan, who had previously watched and followed the two from a distance, repeatedly knocks on Rufus' door, causing him to dismiss them violently. Marie wakes up prematurely and, in a state of panic and confusion, uses her powers to cause Rufus' penis to explode. Jordan breaks the door down and enters the dorm, grabbing Marie and insulting a crying Rufus.

"Welcome to the Monster Club"[]

Rufus appears in a TikTok video at Dusty's party, causing Cate and Marie to believe he's the reason why they suddenly can't remember anything from the past few days. Cate then recalls an incident in which Rufus used his powers to rape her, threatening that if she reported him, he would erase her memory. Because of this, she tells Marie, Jordan, and Andre that he's the one who erased their memories.

At Godolkin University, Marie and Jordan discuss their relationship and what Rufus forced them to do at Dusty's party. Jordan then spots Rufus conversing with Dean Shetty, which prompts the duo to pursue him. During the chase, Rufus pays a shapeshifter to take his form and throw them off. Rufus rushes back to his dorm but is stopped by Andre, who closes the metal shutters and locks the two inside. Rufus tries to explain himself, but fails, causing Andre to choke him and question why he erased their memories. Suddenly, Andre finds himself ordering food at Vought-A-Burger, having been hypnotized by Rufus into leaving.

At Dusty's house, Rufus watches The Mesmerizer and eats pizza when Marie and Jordan confront him. He tries to escape, but Jordan blasts him to the ground. When Rufus attempts to run again, Marie catches him with a blood lasso, knocking him to the ground, pulling him toward her and Jordan. Jordan demands to know what Rufus and Dean Shetty are up to, but Rufus calls them both crazy. He tells them to look at the facts, but Marie says he made them forget. Rufus explains that he couldn't have wiped their memories because his powers only work up close, and he spent the last five hours at Dusty's house. Dusty backs him up, confirming Rufus' innocence. Jordan shows Rufus the implant in their neck and presses for answers, but Rufus claims he doesn’t know anything. Just then, Marie receives a call from Emma, which distracts Jordan, allowing Rufus to attempt to use his powers, but he fails again and gets blasted back. Emma reveals that it was Cate who wiped their memories. Rufus begs for his life and asserts that he only works in the dean's office, has no knowledge of implants, and did nothing to them at the party. Suddenly, Andre slams Rufus through a wall with a keg and threatens him with garden shears and a shovel. As Andre is about to attack, Cate reveals the truth, causing him to let Rufus go.

"Sick"[]

Rufus and multiple students party together in the dorms, drinking beer, smoking weed, and sliding down an ice slide. He strikes up a friendship with a hesitant Sam and persuades him to drink beer and enjoy the party. As the party begins to die down, Rufus tells Sam that they're moving to another party and asks if he wants to join them. Sam replies that he has to stay behind to wait for Emma, causing Rufus to lie and say that she's at the party they're heading to. Sam trusts Rufus and decides to join him, making everyone happy.

At Godolkin Town Hall, Rufus attends and watches a live interview of Victoria Neuman and Cameron Coleman with Sam and several Supes. Sam wonders where Emma is, and Rufus says she'll meet them later. During the interview, several students protest against Victoria, and Rufus chants that they will not be controlled by her and the government she seeks to impose, leading to a riot filled with enraged students. Sam asks why everyone is upset, and Rufus firmly says that Victoria and humans want to take away their power and limit them, and that Homelander is right, believing Supes to be superior than humans. After the interview ends, Rufus, Sam, and his friends leave Godolkin Town Hall.

"Guardians of Godolkin"[]

Rufus walks through Godolkin University while trying to record a reaction to Desperado by Rihanna. He is stopped by a sweaty Supe, who questions if he is also a Supe. Rufus rudely responds and walks away. The Supe immediately asks Professor Ibarra the same question. When she reveals herself to be a human, he kills her with his heat powers, sparking widespread terror and prompting Rufus to record the murder.

Powers and Abilities[]

Powers[]

I heard you're a psychic.
  • Telepathy: Rufus possesses devious telepathic abilities, letting him hear the thoughts of others, see into their minds, and search their memories for specific information. In contrast to most telepaths, Rufus' powers only require proximity to his target.
    • Hypnosis: At close range, Rufus can hypnotize others, inducing a trance-like state that makes them highly responsive to suggestions or directives. Those who fall under his influence are unable to recall any events that occurred during that time. He hypnotizes Marie Moreau and almost date rapes her. During a confrontation with Andre Anderson, Rufus uses hypnosis to compel him to walk away and place an order at Vought-A-Burger.
    • Clairvoyance: Through objects belonging to targets, Rufus can acquire information using sight outside the normal range of detection. After receiving a dress belonging to Emma Meyer, Rufus pinpointed her precise location and discovered that she was with Sam Riordan.
    • Astral Projection: With intense focus, Rufus can separate his astral form from his physical body, allowing for perception, interaction, and travel independent of mental or physical limitations.
  • Superhuman Durability: Rufus possesses superhuman durability, making him more durable than humans and some Supes. He endures several of Jordan Li's energy blasts, even quickly getting up to regain his balance right after. Furthermore, Rufus is forcibly pushed through the air by a metal keg controlled by Andre, slamming through concrete walls and sliding doors without suffering any injuries.
  • Regenerative Healing Factor: Rufus possesses an unspecified accelerated healing factor, as he has apparently recovered quickly from his injury in which Marie exploded his penis.
  • Superhuman Hearing: Rufus possesses superhuman hearing, allowing him to hear better than humans. Like all Supes, he can hear higher frequencies that humans cannot.[1]

Abilities[]

  • Manipulation: Rufus is a manipulative person who can influence and control others without using his powers. He manipulates a vulnerable Sam into believing that Supes are superior to humans.

Weaknesses[]

Biological[]

  • Brute Force/Limited Durability: Despite being more durable than humans, Rufus can still be stunned, knocked unconscious, and killed by extreme force. Andre chokes Rufus, threatening to kill him by breaking his neck.
  • Close Range Required: Rufus has a major limitation when using his powers, he needs to be extremely close to the person to use his telepathy, like he did with Marie and Andre. Supes with long-range attacks can easily avoid him, such as when Jordan managed to keep him away using their energy blast.
  • High Frequencies: Due to being a Supe, Rufus is susceptible to high frequencies. When a high frequency is playing, it can induce immense pain and temporarily neutralize him. During a massacre at Godolkin University, Rufus is momentarily neutralized through the use of a high-frequency alarm.

Relationships[]

Trivia[]

  • Rufus is named after roofies, a type of date-rape drug. The creators regard him as a walking roofie.[2]
  • In an earlier script of the show, Rufus was going to lead a secret club of Supes, likely called the "Monster Club," who knew Godolkin.[3]
