Howard Kessler, also known as Monkey, is a character in the comic book series The Boys. He is one of the main sources of information The Boys use in their crusade against corrupt Supes, especially ones associated with Vought-American, such as The Seven.
History[]
Kessler, a CIA analyst utilized by Butcher for intelligence gathering, is humorously nicknamed "Monkey" by the Boys, especially Butcher. The moniker originates from an incident where Kessler, escorting Butcher to Doc Peculiar's brothel, was promptly raped by green monkeys in both ears. Upon revisiting the brothel, Butcher finds out that Peculiar has immortalized the incident by crafting a statue depicting Kessler and the green monkeys engaged in their act.
Aside from his intelligence work, Kessler's character is colored by a fetish for female paraplegics and a difficulty in achieving an erection unassisted. He attributes this to the physical repercussions of Butcher's interrogations and punishments, involving numerous groin-kneeing episodes.
When news breaks that Susan Raynor plans to enter public office, she designates Kessler as her successor at the CIA. In an attempt to complicate matters for the Boys, Kessler's composure falters during a fundraiser dinner upon encountering the paraplegic former athlete Nikki Brand. He attempts to sexually assault her with a dildo, but is knocked out by her. As soon as tries to report him, Butcher steps in. Kessler wakes up bound and exposed, with a dildo attached to his rear. Butcher shares with him the fabricated story he told to the paraplegic athlete, preventing her from reporting the incident. Blackmailed and further humiliated, Kessler is anally raped by Terror by Butcher's request.

- Monkey gets his nickname due to an incident where he was raped, simultaneously in both ears by two of Doctor Peculiar's "AIDS monkeys".
- He is also - as far as we know - the only human to be violated by Terror. Monkey does not have much luck with people or animals.
