"John and Sun-Hee" is the seventh episode of the first season of the animated anthology series, The Boys Presents: Diabolical. Its animation style derives from South Korean drama and horror anime. It was released on March 4, 2022, on Amazon Prime Video.
This is one of three animated shorts considered canonical to The Boys TV show.[1]
Summary[]
Prepare to cry as an old man risks everything to cure his wife's inoperable cancer.
Plot[]
John finds out that his wife Sun-Hee has only days to live because of a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. He goes to get a taser gun from a pawn shop before going to into his work at Vought International. John steals a guard's badge, by tricking and tasing the guard, so that he can steal Compound V to cure his wife, Sun-Hee.
After getting the Compound V and bringing it to his wife, Sun-Hee recovers and is able to escape with John thanks to glowing tendril powers emitting from her cancer. As they run away, Sun-Hee suddenly does not feel well and her cancer leaves her body in the forest where it consumes wildlife and grows.
Vought agents come to destroy it, but the cancer consumes them as well. John wants to run away but Sun-Hee insists that they must fix what has happened. Sun-Hee has received her own powers as well, and she wishes John well, telling him to take care of himself without her. Sun-Hee then sacrifices herself to destroy the tumor.
