After Indira Shetty's death, Cate is hearing so many thoughts in Marie, Emma, and Jordan, about what she did. Sam on the other hand believes what she did was right. Jordan tries to calm down everyone and assess the situation, but Emma fired back at them saying that the situation is bleeding on the rug. Marie was not happy that Cate murdered her, but Cate said that she did this for her and the others while also pointing out that they may realize that she is being a hero. Sam believed that Cate is right and sides with her to be a hero to which Cate accepts. Emma tries to protect him from her, but Sam tells her that Indira sucked and that he is not an experiment. Cate plans to free all the captives in The Woods and Emma fails to convince Sam not to go with her. Jordan tries to block their way, but Marie tells them not to due to Sam being too powerful. Marie, Jordan, and Emma plan to stop them both from releasing The Woods.
Meanwhile Andre is at Vought Tower discussing with the doctor about the brain damage that his father is having. After the doctor leaves, he goes in the room to talk to his father. The CEO of Vought International, Ashley Barrett, is with all the trustees of Godolkin University trying to figure out which of the students to send straight to The Seven. Cate and Sam arrive at The Woods and Sam kills one of the guards, while Cate persuades the other one to unlock the cells and release the captives. Sam returns to his former cell and has a hallucination of his brother, Luke, asking what he is doing. Sam tells him that he is helping Supes while also hurting humans which he thought that's what he wanted. The hallucination of Luke tells him that he killed himself from guilt because of it. Sam yells at Luke that he killed himself and left him in the cell. His brother tried to convince Sam not to do this, but he ignores him and locks the cell to meet up with the others. Cate and Sam discover the dead body of Andy, who died due to Cardosa and Shetty injecting him with the virus. Cate then tells all the captives that they are superior to humans and it's time to show it. Cate then uses her powers to make the guard eat his hands before leaving with Sam and the other Supes.
After the captives reach outside of the university, they wreak havoc and hurt so many humans. Meanwhile, Cate uses one of the students to eat a device and explodes his head during a livestream. Sam then enters the performing arts center where Adam Bourke in the theatre and almost kills him after he mocks him. Emma arrives and demands him to stop. Emma asks what Sam is thinking, and he asks her why she is here. Emma asks if he is throwing away all the chats about sharing their feelings and privates, but Sam told her that he is not and that it is his choice. She tells him that he shouldn't hurt people, and he argued back saying that people hurt him while also telling her that he never asked her to rescue him. Sam told her that she did that for herself and she never asks him what he wants because she always tells Sam what to do. Emma tells him that it is normal, until he yelled back her saying that he is normal and that it's what it looks like when she had his life. After a huge argument, Emma tells him that she wanted what was best, but Sam tells her that she only wanted what was best for her. Emma is shocked by his words and reminded him that she risked everything for her. Sam sternly tells her that she would do anything to have everyone like her and tells her that she is not a hero. Emma is left in tears after Sam leaves and finds out that she shrunk to her small size after crying.
Sam is walking down the hallway when his hallucination of Luke shows up again. After he regroups with Cate, he asks her what they're doing is right and she responds that what they're doing is so hard. She asks him if he wants her help and Luke tries to convince his brother to stop Cate, but to no avail. Cate allows him to feel nothing, and he tells her that he feels much better. Marie manages to reach into Indira's office and push the button underneath her desk. After the high-frequency sounds started to bother all the Supes, one of them managed to destroy them with his superhuman voice. Ashley orders Also Ashley to find Homelander and tells the trustee to contact the students and whoever kills all the rogue Supes, joins The Seven. A helicopter arrives to take Ashley and the others to safety until a flying Supe hits the helicopter and causes the drive to lose control. The helicopter was eventually saved by Andre and both he and Marie go and talk to Cate to convince her to stop what she is doing. Cate then persuades Mavrick to deal with them both. Andre goes after Cate and Marie has to deal with Mavrick. With her blood sensing, she was able to defeat Mavrick. Andre tries to persuade Cate to stop and listen to reason, but she buys Sam time to ambush him. After a brief fight with Sam, Andre managed to defeat Sam with a stun stick. While Jordan tries to protect Ashley and the other so they can get to the helicopter, Marie goes to tell Cate that she doesn't care about being a superhero anymore and that she wants to be a better person. Cate however tells her that she is not a person but a product to the people at Godolkin. Marie goes to fight the other rogue Supes with Jordan, and they manage to defeat them. Cate tries to pull a persuasion on Marie, but she managed to stop her by destroying her left arm. Marie is shocked for what she did, until Homelander arrives. Homelander looks at all the of the dead Supes and stares at Marie. She tries to explain what happened, but Homelander keeps her from talking. He asks her what kind of animal she is and if she likes attacking her own kind. Marie tries to explain, but Homelander tells the people to stay back and he then lasers Marie, knocking her unconscious.
On Vought News, the media blames Marie, Andre, Jordan, and Emma for the murder spree at Godolkin University and Sam and Cate are hailed as the new Guardians of Godolkin, with Homelander smiling in delight. Moments later, Marie wakes up in a sealed room with Jordan, Emma, and Andre, She then realizes that they're imprisoned. In The Woods, Billy Butcher appears and investigates.
