Critter is a minor antagonist in the Dynamite Entertainment adult comic book series The Boys. He was a vulgar Sasquatch-like Supe and founding member of the G-Men.

Background[]

Early Childhood and Career[]

Not much is revealed about Critter's early life or anything in general about his career as a superhero. However, like the rest of the G-Men, he was presumably abducted by John Godolkin after being lured into his limousine and taken to the G-Men Mansion, where he would have been given large amounts of Compound V (which made him grow fur-like hair all over his body) before having his original name and identity erased in favor of one chosen by Godolkin as part of his "training". He would have also presumably later been sexually abused and brainwashed by Godolkin in order to control Critter and keep him obedient, as with what happened to his other peers. His position within the G-Main seems to have been mainly concerned with clerical and administrative responsibilities , such as recording new recruits and overlooking security, a role he deeply disliked.

Infiltration of the G-Men and Death at the Hands of the Red River Army[]

He is first shown in the front entrance to the G-Men Mansion where he asked recent G-Whiz member "Bagpipe" (Hughie Campbell while undercover) for his papers. While remarking on why he was always tasked with "admin bullshit", snarky claims that "the devil with idle hands", to which Critter responds by calling him a "f$#%t”.

Critter was among the G-Men and related teams that were massacred by Red River on James Stillwell's orders.

Personality[]

As with the case of most G-Men members, Critter was a crass and hedonistic so-called "superhero" who was casually sex-obsessed and more concerned with maintaining his luxurious lifestyle than actually trying to live up the made-up script as a "discriminated" Supe trying to protect a society prejudiced against them, which Godolkin and Vought created to simply market the team better. Ironically, like with the other White G-Men, he is shown to be deeply racist towards the all-Black G-Coast and G-Style spin-off teams. Additionally, he was also notable for being extremely homophobic, with Critter often calling his gay teammates "f$#%?ts" and jokingly suggested during one brunch that gay G-Men members Flamer and the Devine spend the money made from the franchise's revenue on "golden cock rings". Because of his anti-gay bigotry, Critter had something of a feud with the Devine over his use of slurs and mockery, an only situation worsened by Devine's smug and arrogant personality.

Out of all the G-Men, he was the most willing to openly challenge John Godolkin's increasingly irrational leadership decisions (or at least without being killed like Nubia), compared to most of his teammates, who at best just whispered their contempt and mockery of their leader either under their breaths or in private. He even went as far as to openly criticize Gondolkin for trying to add more members to the G-Men rooster and endlessly creating spin-off teams, despite how obviously impossible it was to conceal such a vast criminal enterprise without being it discovered by the public or attracting the attention of the authorities.

Appearance[]

Due to the large amounts of Compound-V he was injected with as a child, Critter grew hair over his entire body and increased his height significantly, giving him a feral Sasquatch-like appearance, which resulted in his code name being "Critter". The only clothes Critter is shown a pair of trunks and a pair of boxing gloves on his hands.

Trivia[]

  • He is a debauch parody of X-Men member Beast from Marvel Comics.
  • Given that Critter was shown alongside Godolkin observing Jamal during a G-Whiz training session and was the most concerned with keeping the group's dark secrets from being revealed during the brunch scene, it appears that Critter was one of the older G-Men members that Jamal (Dime-Bag) claimed would "join in" on Godolkin's sex crimes on children.
