I fucking hate being a Supe. I never wanted anyone to know, and now they do. And there's nothing you could do about it.
―Annabeth to Marie.[src]

Annabeth Moreau is a minor character in Season One and a recurring character in Season Two of the Amazon series Gen V, a spin-off series of The Boys. She is Marie Moreau's younger sister.

Background[]

Annabeth was born to Malcolm and Jackie in the mid 2000s, and she grew up alongside her older sister Marie, experiencing an ordinary childhood together. At some point in time in her early life, she was injected with Compound V, subsequently transforming her into a Supe and granting her superhuman powers and abilities

In 2015, when Annabeth was 8, she enjoyed quality time with her family and older sister while watching A-Train get drafted into The Seven. Shortly afterward, Marie's powers manifested, unintentionally leading to the death of their parents, a traumatic event that Annabeth witnessed. Consequently, Annabeth was separated from her sister and placed in an orphanage, where she would lose all contact with Marie.

The Boys Series[]

Gen V: Season 1[]

"God U."[]

In a flashback, Annabeth attempts to recreate an iconic selfie, but Marie messes with her, leading the two to start playfully fighting with each other. Marie's stomach starts to cramp, and Annabeth asks if she's okay. Jackie notices this and suggests that Marie get some Pepto, but Marie heads upstairs to the bathroom, and their mother follows. Suddenly, Marie kills her parents by accident with her newfound blood powers, and Annabeth watches in horror as they lie in the wreckage of their bathroom with Marie scared in the corner.

In the present, Marie unpacks her belongings in her dorm, gazing wistfully at a photo of her family. She feels a deep longing to set things right at Godolkin University and to make Annabeth proud.

"First Day"[]

Before the Godolkin University interview about Golden Boy's defeat, Hailey Miller tells Marie Moreau that Annabeth had been contacted, but she no longer wants anything to do with her older sister.

"Jumanji"[]

In Cate's shared mindscape, Marie opens a door that leads to the bloodied and destroyed bathroom where she killed her parents. A dream version of Annabeth sits in the corner while her parents' bodies lie on the ground. Marie approaches Annabeth and tries to explain why she accidentally killed their parents. The dream version of Annabeth calls her a murderer who they'll never forgive, reflecting Marie's guilt and suppressed trauma surrounding her parents' death.

Gen V: Season 2[]

"H is for Human"[]

While not present in this episode, we learn that Annabeth was raised by Pam (parents' friend) and is still alive.

"The Kids Are Not All Right"[]

Cipher takes Marie to a locked cell, where she is shocked to discover Annabeth inside. Realizing Cipher has been keeping her sister captive, Marie lashes out and tries to attack him. In response, the control collar around her neck activates, shocking her until she collapses unconscious. Annabeth screams for her sister as Cipher drags Marie away.

Later in the episode, after Marie and her friends manage to escape their containment, they return to free Annabeth. When Marie opens the cell, she is horrified to find her sister lying on the floor with her throat slit. Jordan checks for a pulse and confirms she is dead. Overcome with grief, Marie channels her blood-manipulation powers in desperation, forcing the blood back into Annabeth’s body and sealing the wound. Moments later, Annabeth gasps for air and awakens.

"Cooking Lessons"[]

Inside her cell at Elmira, Annabeth has just been resurrected by Marie’s powers as alarms sound. Terrified and disoriented, she is urged to escape with Marie, Jordan, Emma, Cate, and Sam, who breaks through the wall to rescue them. During their flight, Annabeth remains shaken and mistrustful of Marie, struggling to accept her sister’s help after years of estrangement. When someone suggests fleeing to Canada, Annabeth refuses, saying she won’t run away “to a foreign country with strangers.” Later, while hiding in an abandoned library, she reveals she also has powers — the ability of precognition — which allows her to sense future events. She lashes out at Marie, blaming her for their parents’ deaths and claiming Marie “ruined” her life. Cate identifies her power and warns the group. Later, Annabeth experiences a panic attack, which Marie helps calm through breathing exercises. Annabeth admits she hasn’t had one in years and that their Aunt Pam gave her a good life. Her precognition suddenly activates, warning of danger before Vikor attacks. After the group’s rescue, she bonds with Zoe Neuman inside Stan Edgar’s bunker, sharing memories of Marie trick-or-treating for both of them when they were children.

"Hell Week"[]

Annabeth jolts awake from a terrifying vision in which she sees Marie lying dead in a pool of blood. Alarmed, she wakes Jordan and realizes that both Marie and Cate are missing from Stan Edgar’s bunker. When Sam confirms Cate is gone as well, Annabeth and Jordan become increasingly worried. Later, she experiences another vision of Marie’s death, identical to the first. Annabeth and Jordan rush to Godolkin University to find her sister. When the group enters the training hall, Annabeth senses that Marie’s vision of doom is about to come true. She warns the others that the tragedy unfolding mirrors the deaths of their parents. During the battle with Cipher, Annabeth fights alongside the others and witnesses Marie’s attempt to heal Dr. Godolkin. When Cipher collapses and the truth about his manipulation is revealed, Annabeth flees with Marie, Cate, and the others as Dr. Godolkin awakens and begins asserting his power.

"Trojan"[]

Annabeth accompanies Marie and the others to Stan Edgar’s safehouse. On the journey, she and Marie reconcile, with Annabeth admitting she misjudged her sister. She embraces Marie in forgiveness and remains with the group when Starlight invites them to join the resistance.

Personality[]

In a flashback, Annabeth was shown as a normal happy child playing with her older sister showing a cheerful personality, however when she witnessed her parents dead bodies caused by her sister's power awakening. She developed a deep resentment and during their reunion occasionally snaps at her showing she still blames her for their parents death. She also shows dislike for being a supe and hides the fact she is one from everyone she knows.

She's also known to be extremely anxious to the point of it preventing her from going to events, like trick-or-treating, where Marie had to go on her behalf.

Powers and Abilities[]

Powers[]

S-Sometimes... I'll get a sense of something, but... it doesn't always happen.
―Annabeth Moreau[src]
  • Precognition: Annabeth can see visions of the future, though only a glimpse. She sensed that Sam is about to burst through a wall to rescue them and uses her powers to lead the group to him. She also sense that Vikor was near.
  • Superhuman Hearing: Annabeth possesses superhuman hearing, allowing her to hear better than humans. Like all Supes, she can hear higher frequencies that humans cannot.[1]

Weaknesses[]

  • Lack of Control: According to herself, she can't control when she can get her visions and how or when she gets them is unknown.
  • High Frequencies: Due to being a Supe, Annabeth is susceptible to high frequencies. When a high frequency is playing, it can induce immense pain and temporarily neutralize her.
  • Panic Attack: It is revealed she has occasional panic attacks and has been undergoing therapeutic treatment.
  • Lack of Secondary Abilities: As implied when Vikor ambushed them, Annabeth lacks secondary abilities common to most Supes, such as superhuman strength and enhanced durability. As demonstrated when Cipher slit her throat without a problem.

Relationships[]

Trivia[]

  • The casting call for this character used the name Rachel.
