The church knows all kinds of things. But don't worry. We also know how to be discreet, especially for our members.

The Boys Series

Background

It was revealed by Stan Edgar that Alastair's Grandfather was the original founder and leader of the Church of the Collective when it was "just a start up", confirming that Alastair has had ties to the Church ever since he was born and that he had likely inherited the position as leader from his Father and Grandfather.

During his reign as the leader of the Church of the Collective, Alastair had successfully created a large network of contacts by recruiting several influential figures or people with potential in various fields that can join or infiltrate high profile political, social, economic and influential groups and thus give him insider information on them.

Thanks to this, Alastair has gained access to a lot of insider knowledge on high profile individuals and ongoing occurrences, with him having contacts within National Congress, Vought International and even to the Superhuman Community.

The Deep's Initiation

So join us at the Church of the Collective, and be the person you were always meant to be.

Sometime after The Deep was recruited into the church by Eagle the Archer, Alastair provides intel to Carol about the whereabouts of the Supe-Terrorist, giving The Deep an opportunity to become a hero once again. Based on this action, he seems eager to repair The Deep's reputation and get him back into the fold of The Seven to further the church's influence.

Shortly after The Deep's marriage to Cassandra, Alastair makes The Deep a spokesman for the church, having him star in a TV commercial where he talks about how the church changed his life. Alastair makes an appearance at the end of the commercial, shaking The Deep's hand.

Recruiting A-Train

They're gonna give Shockwave your uniform, you know that? Call him the next A-Train."
"No, they can't do that."
"Why not? A-Train is a trademark. You are just another nobody from the South Side of Chicago.

―Alastair Adana and A-Train[src]

After A-Train finishes his line in the upcoming "Dawn of the Seven" movie, stating he's "done running", he is approached and recruited by The Deep, who offers him help. A-train then has lunch with Alastair and The Deep at the Renewal Center. Alastair asks Deep about his publicity, to which Deep says his reputation with women is improving. Then he asks them both their current thoughts, A-Train says this is a pleasant lunch while Deep admits that he no longer wants to feel like he wants to drown A-Train. A freaked out A-Train stands up from the table and attempts to leave, Alastair stops him after revealing that he knows about A-Train's Compound V abuse/withdraws. Alastair then states that Vought plans on turning Shockwave into the new A-Train. A confused A-train denies the claims, saying that he is the one and only "A-Train". However, Alastair sows further doubts by stating "A-Train' is a trademark. You are just another nobody from the South Side of Chicago." Alastair then offers his help to get A-Train back into the Seven, but first he must sit back down and let Deep tell his truths. Convinced for the moment, A-Train sits back down to the excitement of Alastair and Deep.

Word of Warning

Alastair appears again at his birthday party in Butcher, Baker, Candlestick Maker, there, he meets with A-Train, Deep and Cassandra Schwartz asking them about the party. He then tells A-Train and Deep that he heard after Starlight's betrayal, that Vought was looking for "assets" they could trust and reassures them they'll be back in The Seven soon. Alastair then asks if they know anything about Eagle the Archer. Before Deep can complement Eagle, Alastair interrupts him by calling Eagle a traitor to the Church, and encourages A-Train and Deep to excommunicate Eagle. A-Train asks about why Eagle got kicked out. Before walking off, Alastair explains that Eagle refused to comply with the Church program and was kicked out as a result. This leaves A-Train suspicious.

Death

In the final episode of Season 2 What I Know Adana has his head exploded by Victoria Neuman. This comes shortly after his request to her for the church to get a tax exempt status.

Trivia

  • Alastair Adana is mostly a parody of real world cult leader David Miscavige, the leader of The Church of Scientology, a cult and new age religion which is known for blackmailing celebrities into joining their ranks with promises of career comebacks or the threat of releasing sensitive private information of theirs to the public. His name and exotic demeanor resemble the 20th century occultist Aleister Crowley and Church of Satan founder Anton LaVey. All three of these men have been accused of running fraudulent scam cults disguised as religions which originally had very exclusive memberships.
